Sale of Personal Information & Your Membership Tier

Your membership tier determines our default practice regarding the sale of your personal information to third parties (such as data brokers or advertising partners), as follows:

TierDefault data-sale practice
PremiumDoggone Deal does not sell Premium members' personal information. This applies automatically โ€” no action needed.
SapphireDoggone Deal does not sell Sapphire members' personal information. This applies automatically โ€” no action needed.
BasicDoggone Deal may sell Basic members' personal information to third parties as part of our standard business practices, unless you opt out as described in Section 5.

"Sale" here has the broad meaning given to it under California law (the CCPA/CPRA), which can include certain forms of sharing personal information in exchange for money or other valuable consideration, including some advertising and analytics arrangements.

05

Basic Members: How to Opt Out

If you are a Basic member, you will be prompted to indicate your data-sale preference the first time you log in to the Doggone Deal mobile app. You can choose to direct Doggone Deal not to sell your personal information at that time.

  • If you make this request, we will honor it going forward and will not sell your personal information unless you later change this preference.
  • If you skip or do not respond to this prompt, our default practice for Basic members (Section 4) will apply.
  • You may change your data-sale preference at any time from your Member Profile settings in the app, or by submitting a request as described in Section 8.
  • Opting out of the sale of your personal information will not affect your access to discounts, membership benefits, or pricing for your tier.
  • This opt-out choice is stored on your account and is separate from your membership tier โ€” you can remain a Basic member while opting out of data sale.
06

How We Share Information

Aside from the sale practices described in Sections 4โ€“5, we may share information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the Service, such as payment processors, hosting providers, and customer support tools, under contracts limiting their use of your information.
  • Providers when necessary to facilitate a discount or service you request (for example, confirming your membership status to a groomer or boarding facility).
  • Business transfers, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to standard notice requirements.
  • Legal and safety purposes, as described in Section 7.
07

Law Enforcement & Legal Requests

Doggone Deal does not disclose Member data to law enforcement or other government agencies based on an informal request. Except as described below, we require a valid subpoena, court order, warrant, or other legally binding process, issued by a court or agency of competent jurisdiction, before disclosing any Member's personal information to law enforcement.

  • We will review each request for legal sufficiency and may seek to narrow, challenge, or quash requests we believe are overbroad, unlawful, or improperly issued.
  • Where legally permitted, we will attempt to notify the affected Member before disclosing their information in response to a law enforcement request.
  • Emergency exception: notwithstanding the above, we may disclose information without a subpoena if we have a good-faith belief that doing so is necessary to prevent death or serious physical harm to a person, consistent with applicable law.
08

Your California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), gives you certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 16. We will verify your identity before fulfilling most requests.

  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information (see Sections 4โ€“5 for how this works based on your tier).
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
09

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your membership is active. After your membership ends โ€” whether by cancellation, non-renewal, or termination โ€” we retain your personal information for up to one (1) year following the end date of your membership, after which it is deleted or de-identified, except where we are required or permitted to retain it longer to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or respond to a law enforcement request received before deletion. You may request earlier deletion, subject to the exceptions above, as described in Section 8.

10

Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice, such as an email or in-app notice, before the changes take effect.
